Week 13 (ish)

We've been really busy!

Sorry for the delay.

We heard from Bob and Tammy Wilson a while back, and they gave us some updates on the CB/SL project they bought from D. Here are a few pics in race trim. Bob and Tammy changed out the front break set up so they could be legal in their class. That front drum looks fantastic!

Here are some action shot of Bob and the CB/SL in action! We got a few e-mails from some of Bob's competition saying the bike and Bob were really fast! We'll be watching the point standings to see how Bob and Tammy are doing through the season.

GOOD LUCK GUYS!!!!

Now that is a team!

We needed to start getting this bodywork on the frame for good, so we started making a faring stay. Here is Mike filling our tubing with sand so we could bend it without kinking it! We did this last year on our rear frame hoop and it worked really well. This time we're using aluminum, so hopefully it turns out well.

Here is Mike making some solid mounting posts on the lathe. We're going to attach them to the frame and build the faring stay off of them.

CJ notching out the tubing for the faring stay so we can get some nice beads of weld on it.

This is what Mike was working on. He drilled a center hole in it and milled it down to size.

Here is a shot of the finished product. We made solid inserts to put in the ends so we could tap it and attach the body to it cleanly.

Now we need to get the seat in the right place and at the right height.

We didn't want to bend up the frame, so we are working on a spacer for it.

Finding the pattern is always fun. Here is Mike working off the fiberglass to make something.

John working on a different pattern...

Here are a few shots of some clamps we made to help attach the tail piece without modifying the frame or tail.

Here they are in place; they'll make more sense once we finish them. More pics to come!

Here is the mock up of the new rear brake hanger Sam designed. We're making all the prototypes out of Corian, because it \machines and cuts really nicely. D got a bunch of scraps donated to the school for a few of his classes.

Sam is making the hanger and the spacer for the rear wheel out of the same piece!

Now it is time to figure out the motor mounts. We started with cardboard and pencils.

We had to resupport the motor for this one.

Now, we're finally getting somewhere..

Here is our first Corian prototype...

Things seem to be working out well...

The frame tabs don't seem to be the same, but we can work around that.

That's a little better..

Here is the stock D got for the motor mounts, so we will be ready to go as soon as we fine tune the Corian prototypes.
