Week 9
|
Well, we ran into a snag with the motor placement before Holiday break. We had to do something completely different to hold the motor. We decided (with much support from you all) to integrate the swing arm pivot to the rear of the motor. Good thing for us Husky uses the motor as a stress unit and runs the swing arm through the rear of the motor. This meant we had to do a bunch of cutting and machining to get the motor to fit. This was not fun at all. D could not find a back-up swing arm in case we screwed up so that just meant we couldn't!
We also had to make new bushings and a swing arm pivot for the TZ. REN Tool made us a pivot but we made our own bushings.

This is the last time it will look like this!

Here is D at the point of no return...

We didn't have anything to cut out the sheet aluminum so we used what we had. This took a while. D got us started then we got to go from there.

Doesn't it look like fun?

This is what you get with a 3/8" drill and some time!

Here we are trying to figure out how to get the swing arm into the mill straight. Also, we're trying to figure out how to get it back into the mill if we don't get it right the first time.

Well here we go...

Here is a shot of our bushings in the swing arm. They are long but that's ok; you can always make them shorter. It's not so much fun making them longer, unless you find that tool D is always talking about called the Pneumatic bushing stretcher...

So far so good.

While we were working on the swing arm we got a real cool donation from Scary Fast Racing: the Power Now and the Power Shot for our Carb.

Here is a shot of the carb before Brandon and CJ do the Scary Fast mods. That's our headlight From Tyga to the right

Brandon is taking off the bell mouth of of our carb to replace it with the Power Now. He had to make a new allen wrench for the job but that wasn't a big deal.

Here is a side by side shot of the two different bell mouths. The one on the left is the Power Now the other one is OEM.

The Power Now Increases the velocity of the air and stops the dead spots of air at all throttle positions. It also looks freakin' amazing; all machined aluminum and anodized.

This is it all assembled...

CJj is going to install the Power Shot which is a new cover for the accelerator pump. It stops any hesitation on acceleration.

Here they are together!

Awesome, right?
